New this week

Summer is drawing to a close, but there's still a few notable films left. Most notably "Julie & Julia," the Nora Ephron-directed tale of Julia Child trying to write her seminal cookbook, and a modern-day woman resolved to cook all of its 524 recipes in a year. You can read my review later this week.

I'll also have reviews of "G.I. Joe," a summer action flick, and "Departures," the Japanese drama that was a surprise winner for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar earlier this year.

The DVD review will be "The Soloist."

For Reeling Backward film reviews, I'll have "Zulu" and "Contact."
